Welcome to our student scholarships page!
In support of our mission to promote students interested in environmental professions, NAEP-SC is proud to announce the recipients of our first annual NAEP-SC Scholarships! The 2023 Undergraduate Scholarship recipients are:
1st place ($1,500): Addison Stallard, a Senior at the College of CharlestonAddison is majoring in Marine Biology with a concentration in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. She has studied abroad in Australia and Alaska. While studying in Alaska, Addison also completed an internship at Kachemak Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve involving Harbor Porpoise Photo-ID research, as well as undergraduate research on city effluent effects on estuarine ecosystems. In her letter of reference, Addison’s University of Alaska Anchorage academic advisor and coordinator of the Semester by the Bay program shared that “following graduation…Addison will go on to make a substantial contribution to marine and/or conservation biology. She is a confident, out-going, intelligent young woman who not only excelled in my biology courses at UAA-KBC, but also eagerly participated in discussions, labs, and fieldwork, demonstrating every step of the way her commanding knowledge of the scientific literature.” |
2nd place ($500): Stella Frisbie, a Junior at Furman UniversityStella is working toward her BS with majors in Environmental and Conservation Biology and Sustainability Science. She conducted research this summer on medium-sized mammals and deer in Florida at Big Cypress National Preserve. Her referring professor described Stella as an “exemplary student thirsting for knowledge and passionately committed to studying and preserving nature.” |
